Original Stableford format
The points scoring system originated by Dr Frank Stableford (1870-1959) was first used on 16 May 1932 at Wallasey Golf Club, Cheshire.
The original Stableford scoring system was played off scratch:
1 over - 1 pt
Par - 2 pts
1 under - 3 pts
2 under - 4 pts
3 under - 5 pts
At the end of the round, the player added his full handicap to the points scored to get his total points.
I currently have to run a scratch stableford with player entry, then manually add their handicap to their points total.

We play this format on my annual tour and I'm never sure what the handicap allowance should be to add on at the end. Originally, it was full handicap, then it was changed to one third of your handicap.
I think 3/4 is probably fair. It's a physcological issue for all golfers for different reasons. High handicappers aren't scoring very often but have points in the bag. Low handicappers know that they are starting maybe 16 points behind to start with !! -

Forgot to add - clearly a non-qualifying format.
